Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to questions that we are frequently asked. If you have additional questions that are not covered here, please feel free to give us a call at (781) 662-4888.

1. What are the hospital hours?

Our hospital is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM until noon. The clinic is closed on Sunday and on major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day). We are closed for lunch Monday through Thursday from 1:30 - 2:30 and on Friday from 1:30 - 3:00 for Staff Training and meetings.

2. Do I need to have an appointment?

Yes, patients are seen by appointment only. We do our best to schedule each patient according to their needs.  Emergencies should proceed to the office immediately, although a quick phone call to advise us of the situation is helpful.

3. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, MasterCard, Visa, debit cards, CitiHealth and CareCredit.

4. Can I make payments?

Payment is required at the time of services. We do not offer payment plans through the clinic.  CareCredit and CitiHealth provide the option for a monthly payment plan and you can apply for either of those at the clinic or online.

5. At what age can I have my pet spayed or neutered?

Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6 months of age. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine whether your pet is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure. Current vaccinations are required at the time of surgery.

6.  What is the pre-anesthetic blood screening?

This is a blood test that is run prior to surgery. It tests the major organs' functions, blood counts and clotting function of your pet. The pre-anesthetic blood screening is done to assure safety during surgery and the ability to heal following surgery.

7. How long do the sutures stay in after my pet's surgery?
During many surgeries that we perform, we use dissolvable sutures that do not require removal, although on occasion we do use non-dissolvable sutures.  The technician will inform you of which suture material is being used and provide you with go-home instructions on how to care for your pet during your check-out.

8.  Is it a good idea to let my pet have just one litter?

No, there is no advantage to letting your pet have even one litter. However there are plenty of advantages to having your pet spayed or neutered. These advantages include decreasing the chance of breast tumors later in life, decreasing the chance of cystic ovaries and uterine infections later in life, decreasing the desire to roam the neighborhood, decreasing the incidence of prostate cancer later in life, helping prevent spraying and marking, and also decreases the surplus of unwanted puppies and kittens.

9.  Do you board pets?

No, we do not have boarding facilities on site.

10.  I found an orphaned bird/squirrel/chipmunk/etc.  What do I do?
